July 18--The parent company of three retail chains selling plus-size clothing to women has closed another Orange County store.
Charming Shoppes Inc. said it closed its 5,000-square-foot Catherines Plus Sizes store in Santa Ana at the end of June, spokeswoman Ilana Bagell said.

"The closing of this location was based on an ongoing process of analyzing the performance of the entire real estate portfolio," Bagell said. "This particular location was not meeting operating objectives."
Santa Ana Catherines employees were invited to transfer to nearby Catherines stores and many chose to do that, Bagell added. In Orange County, Catherines still has stores in La Habra, Fullerton and Lake Forest. Catherines, which has about 464 stores, targets plus-size women ages 45 and older.
Charming Shoppes closed its Lane Bryant stores at The Village at Orange and Buena Park Downtown at the end of March. Charming Shoppes also closed in late January its Fashion Bug store in Garden Grove -- its only Orange County location.
